Santa Barbara Bowl Outreach - High School Band Fund
The Santa Barbara Bowl Band Fund partners with local high schools to build and sustain impactful instrumental music programs. Through Bowl Outreach, the Band Fund provides essential resources to overcome financial barriers, ensuring that music remains a vital part of every high school student’s well-rounded education.
We are committed to advancing access, equity, and excellence in high school instrumental music education across Santa Barbara County.
Eligibility:
Applying in-school programs must support High School Instrumental Music within Santa Barbara County.
Eligible Requests:
Festival, competition, and performance costs
Curriculum development and classroom technology
Workshops and artist residencies
Student Scholarships
Supplemental instruction and staffing
Ineligible Requests:
Instrument purchases and repairs (request through the Bowl's Instrument Fund)
Capital improvements
Marketing or development expenses
Programs that have already taken place (grant period is for the 2026-2027 school year)
If awarded funding through the Band Fund, programs will not be eligible to apply for the Spring or Fall Cycle grants.
Grant Amounts:
Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on program size, scope, and anticipated impact. Applicants are encouraged to request the amount needed to achieve their program goals within this range.
New applicants:
First time applicants are required to attend a training session via Zoom to apply. To schedule a session, please contact lyndsay@sbbowl.com before February 10.
Application timeline:
Application Opens: Tuesday, February 10, 2026
Application Deadline: Thursday, February 27, 2026 (by midnight — no exceptions)
Review Period: March, 2026
Award Notification: By April 15, 2026
Grant Use Period: 2026–2027 School Year
Final Reports Due: May 31, 2027
